Batemo Cells can be integrated into different simulation environments. Built-in integration is available for MATLAB Simulink and Simscape. Additionally, Batemo Cell FMUs allow integration into many other simulation tools.
Features
Modeling your battery systems with Batemo Cells is easy. Just like the real battery cell, the Batemo Cell has an electrical and a thermal interface. The interface is designed so as to make integration of the Batemo Cells into your models straight-forward: You can either supply the terminal current or the terminal voltage as electrical boundary condition and the surface heat current or the surface temperature as thermal boundary condition. Setting initial conditions is intuitive and comfortable using the Batemo Cell block mask.

Through simulation, the Batemo Cell calculates everything you need: Not only the data that you can also measure in the laboratory but additional internal quantities that are highly relevant in battery system design such as the inner cell temperature or the anode and cathode electrode surface potentials.
To give you an easy start, we have recorded video tutorials that introduce all features and show best-practice examples of typical design challenges. Three examples:
Pack Design: In your application, you connect cells in parallel and in series to a battery pack. With your Batemo Cells, you can do the same and then obtain a deep insight about what happens in your pack.
Fast-Charging: Develop strategies that charge your cells as fast as physically possible without aging your cells through lithium-plating.
BMS Design: Develop your state and parameter estimators with the support of a globally valid physical model. Analyze how aging and non-linear cell behavior influences the robustness of your methods.

Aging and Parameter Studies
The aging and lifetime of batteries represent huge challenges in battery system design. This add-on allows you to age both the cell capacities and power performance in exactly the same way as it happens in the real cell. Additionally, the influences of production variations can be included to your models through this add-on.

Power and Energy
When you develop energy-efficient operational strategies or need the thermal losses of the cell to be precise, this add-on is made for you. It supplies all cell powers, energies and efficiencies.

Anode and Cathode
This add-on supplies inner data for the state of the anode and cathode. This is something quite amazing: With this add-on, you can detect lithium plating and thus develop operational strategies that avoid cell aging and safety-critical operation points.
Licenses
You can buy perpetual or rental licenses, choose whatever best suits your needs. We are very flexible and it is possible to combine different licenses. Of course, your perpetual or rental licenses can include a software maintenance service so as to receive continuous updates and support. To get access to Batemo Cells there are two ways:
- Batemo Cell Library: The license is only required once for your company and grants access to the total Batemo Cell Library including regular updates with new cells.
- Batemo Cell Custom: You simply pay once for the creation of the Batemo Cell. Then you can use it in the whole company.
To start a simulation with one or multiple Batemo Cells, you also need the Batemo Cell Runtime license. If you enable add-on features you also will need the respective add-on license. We offer different license types:
- Concurrent: This license floats in your network and can be used by anyone within your company.
- Named User: This license entitles one named user to simulate the Batemo Cells with one natural person being assigned to the named user.
- Designated Computer: The license entitles the simulation of Batemo Cells on a single registered computer. You must ensure that only one natural person has access to the designated computer at any time.
